Hummus – Face Food For Glowing Skin

Hummus is one of the most popular and loved dish in the Middle east. Not only is it good as a dip with chips, but it’s great for skin too!

Excessive exposure to UVA and ageing can lead to HyperPigmentation. This can cause brown speckled spots on our hands our face. Here I am coming up with my latest Face Mask which is not only good for skin but for tummy as well.

Owing to the wonderful flavor of Hummus, it’s creamy consistency and instant lightening properties it has on the skin – I chose Hummus as the key magic ingredient in both my recipes to help brighten up your skin. The bonus- it also won’t give you a double chin! The double bonus-  it certainly won’t break the bank either!

Facepack 1-

1. Handful of boiled Chickpeas (preferably from a can) with 1 tbsp of water.
2. Grind to a nice paste
3. Apply on cleansed skin
4. Leave it to dry for around 20mins
5. Remove with lukewarm water ,apply toner, moisturizer & later sun block
6. Do this at least 3 times a week to see results.
Lemon can also be added to this recipe, due to its medicinal properties and also due to its lightening agent.

Don’t forget this mask can be applied to the hands and feet too and not just the face.  Read a book and wait for it to dry! Easy!

If your hyper-pigmentation and skin discoloration is due to acne prone skin the recipe below will help speed up the healing/lightening process and help with any bacteria that may be present.

Facepack 2-

1 cup of hummus (1/2 can of chick pea beans, mixed with water)
1 tsp of crushed garlic
2 tbsp of oatmeal flour or  wheat flour
Mix it all together to form a paste. If you find it is too thick, add bit more water.
Leave onto a clean face for 20 minutes
Remove with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer & sun block for sensitive skin
Do this at least twice a week to see results.

By adding garlic to this wonderful age-spot facial mask which is prone to acne or acne scarring, the garlic due to its natural antibiotic benefits will aid in reducing inflammation and speed up the healing process of the skin, whilst the hummus lightens the hyper-pigmentation.

Did I mention the above facepacks are good as a snack too? Enjoy!
